Sports can teach you a lot about yourself and challenge both body and spirit. Fortunately, girls who attend single-sex schools are much more inclined to leave the stands as spectators and join a sports team as players.
Here at Mount St. Mary, our athletes learn what it takes to work hard, compete with integrity, and be a team player. Participation in athletics promotes a love of the game, strengthens self-confidence, and pushes you to be your best both on and off the court or the field. Mount St. Mary Academy’s athletic program has celebrated much success in recent years as a result, including state championship or runner-up titles in several sports. Additionally, each year a number of Belles sign letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
As a member of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), Mount St. Mary competes in the highest classification in the state in 11 sports*:
- Basketball (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman)
- Cross Country
- Soccer (Varsity and Junior Varsity)
- Volleyball (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman)
Students can also try out for one of our cheerleading squads or the Rockettes dance team. Both groups entertain crowds and promote school spirit, unity, and pride year-round at Mount St. Mary Academy and Catholic High School sporting events, pep rallies, and assemblies.
A relatively new addition to the athletic program at Mount St. Mary, students interested in careers in sports medicine can serve as a Student Athletic Trainer. These select students assist our athletic trainer in the locker room and on the sidelines, and they are introduced to sports medicine while gaining valuable real-world experience in the field.
*Per AAA rules and regulations, a prospective student and her family are not able to contact coaching staff, paid or voluntary, prior to the student’s enrollment at Mount St. Mary Academy. If you would like more information about a particular sport or spirit squad, please contact Principal Sara Jones at email@example.com or (501) 664-8006.
