Campus Ministry Clubs and Events

Campus Ministry at Mount St. Mary Academy is intended to build a Christ-centered community of faith within the school. Through the class retreats, Mother-Daughter Rosary, Father-Daughter Mass, all-school liturgies and prayer groups, Mount St. Mary Academy seeks to nurture the faith development and spiritual growth of the school community. Campus ministry is one aspect of the total and holistic religious education program offered at Mount St. Mary Academy.

Dues: Optional t-shirt, usually around $12

 

What do we do? Liturgy Team plans and participates in: the weekly masses, father daughter masses, mother daughter rosaries, all-school masses, Bible studies, prayer groups, for the whole school year. All denominations welcome.

 

How to join: Applications announced on Belle TV and available in late spring, and new members are announced on Belle TV at the end of the year

What do we do? Live music, great homily by Father Fred, 25ish minute mass, experience fellowship and the Eucharist, all the readings and music are done by Mount girls.  Wednesday mass is during 1st lunch, Friday mass is during 2nd lunch.

 

How to Join:  Sign out in campus ministry when you arrive for mass, you don’t need to check in with your homeroom.

What do we do?  The Mother/Daughter Rosary is usually held on the first Thursday of each month at 11:05 in the McAuley Center Gymnasium.  Mothers, grandmothers and other attendees are invited to bring lunch and eat with the daughters after the Rosary. Cookies and water are provided by volunteer moms.  Mothers usually bring their daughter lunch.

 

How to join:  When the lunch bell rings do not go to homeroom or lunch instead come over to the gym and sign in.  If you would like to help lead a rosary please contact Mrs. Phillips or someone on the Liturgy Team. All students are welcome.

What do we do?  The Father/Daughter Mass is usually held on the second Wednesday of each month at 11:05 in the McAuley Center.

 

How to Join:  If you would like to attend you go over to the gym as soon as the lunch/homeroom bell rings and sign in.  If you would like to help with the readings or petitions contact Mrs. Phillips or someone on the Liturgy Team. All students are welcome.

What do we do?  This is a faith sharing prayer group led by Liz Tinquist, who is head of the Catholic Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Little Rock.  During Lunch and Homeroom time the girls meet in the FACS room and eat lunch together and second lunch we go to the chapel for Scripture reading, faith sharing and  discussion.

 

How to join:  When you go to the FACS room sign in.

What do we do?  Bible study is led by a junior or senior Mount girl.  This study is bible based.  Last year we studied 1 John and James.

 

How to join:  We always meet in the chapel. Look on the Activity Schedule to see when we meet.  It’s a very informal “share time.”

What do we do?  Help serve with Fr. Frederick at our Wednesday/Friday Masses or All-School Liturgies.

What do we do?  Minister of Eucharist is a call to serve Christ for others.

 

How to join:  In the spring of your junior year if you are interested in being considered for this ministry at Mount, you write an essay reflecting on your personal faith in the presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. You should be committed to weekly parish masses and involved in parish and campus ministry activities. You should have the desire to be an example of Christ to peers at Mount and elsewhere.

Dues:  These events vary in price.  Scholarships are available through your parish or the Diocese of Little Rock:  Attn. Liz Tinquist.

 

What do we do?  Campus Ministry supports all diocesan events such as Search, National Catholic Youth Convention, Senior High Youth Rally Weekend Extravaganza, and Right to Life March.  Forms to attend these events can be found in Campus Ministry.
