Athletics

Go Belles!

At Mount St. Mary Academy, our student-athletes learn what it takes to work hard, compete with integrity, and be a team player. Participation in Mount athletics promotes a love of the sport, strengthens self-confidence and perseverance, and develops character while pushing you to be your best both on and off the court, field, or course.

As a member of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), Mount St. Mary Academy competes in the state’s highest 6A classification in 8 sports and the 5A classification in 3 others (noted by the *):

  • Basketball* (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman)

  • Bowling

  • Cross Country

  • Diving

  • Golf

  • Soccer (Varsity and Junior Varsity)

  • Softball*

  • Swimming

  • Tennis

  • Track

  • Volleyball* (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman)

Spirit Squads

Students can also try out for one of our cheerleading squads (varsity or freshman) or the Rockettes dance team. Both groups entertain crowds and promote school spirit, unity, and pride year-round at Mount St. Mary Academy and Catholic High School sporting events, pep rallies, and assemblies.

Accolades

Mount St. Mary Academy’s athletics program has celebrated much success in recent years, including state and conference championship or runner-up titles in several sports. In 2023 alone, Belles achieved the following:

  • 6A Girls Golf State Champions

  • 5A Girls Volleyball Conference Champions (2nd year in a row)

  • 6A Girls Soccer Conference Champions

Additionally, each year a number of Belles sign letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Click here to check out the list of our student-athletes since the 2016-2017 school year who have achieved this feat.

Performance Training

A vital component to the success of our athletic program as a whole, our Performance Training program serves to improve the overall strength, conditioning, athleticism, and toughness of every student-athlete at Mount St. Mary Academy. It is a personalized strength program designed to meet the needs of every student-athlete and is administered year-round, both in- and off-season. Click here to read more.

Student Athletic Trainers

Students interested in careers in sports medicine can apply to participate in our Student Athletic Trainer program. Chosen students assist our athletic trainer in the locker room and on the sidelines, and they are introduced to sports medicine while gaining valuable real-world experience in the field. Many go on to pursue athletic training, physical therapy, or other types of medical degrees after participating in this popular opportunity through our athletics program.
