We proudly celebrate the 50th anniversary of Catholic Schools Week January 28 to February 3! Founded on February 5 in 1851, Mount St. Mary Academy represents one of the first centers of education established by the Sisters of Mercy after their arrival in America. As a Sisters of Mercy sponsored school, and one of nearly 1,200 Catholic secondary schools nationwide, we remain dedicated to upholding the traditions of academic excellence, spiritual growth and community service that have served as the foundation of our work for the past 173 years.
We are proud to be so deeply rooted in our community as the oldest continuously operated school in Arkansas, and we are thankful for the countless faculty, staff, students, parents and families, alumnae, Sisters of Mercy, parishes and friends who have believed in the invaluable benefits of Catholic education and supported Mount St. Mary over the years.
As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the wonderful blessings God has favored upon Mount St. Mary Academy over the past year. We have so much to applaud, including these notable accomplishments:
- Best Private High School win in Arkansas Democrat-Gazette readers’ poll for the 2nd straight year
- Best Private High School win in Little Rock Soirée readers’ poll
- Best Private School win in AY Magazine readers’ poll
- 52 total AP Scholars and one of only 6 Arkansas schools earning a place on the AP Program School Honor Roll with Gold distinction
- Two faculty recipients of the prestigious Stephens Award
- 6A Girls Golf State Champions, the team’s first state title since 1999
