Earlier this spring, students in this year’s digital design and photography classes submitted their work into the Photographic Society of America (PSA) Youth Showcase international competition. Six MSM students’ photographs were chosen from hundreds of entries and will be exhibited in the print exhibit hall at the annual PSA Photo Festival in Tucson, Arizona, in September 2024. The selected pieces will also be featured in a Youth Showcase video program held during the Photo Festival and featured on the PSA website and be included in the event’s souvenir brochure.

Congratulations to the following MSM students on this wonderful achievement (corresponding artwork displayed below in same order):

- Addison Benedetti ’25, “St. John”
- Bri Boggs ’24, “Queen, Please”
- Miley Harter ’24, “Stargazing Tower”
- Emma Koehler ’25, “Concrete Jungle”
- Catherine Raffaelli ’24, “Chicago”
- Ella Tucker ’24, “The Grave”

According to its website, PSA seeks to encourage the younger generation to learn and share the enjoyment of photography and is committed to enriching the lives of school-age children and youth around the world by introducing them to photography as a means of self-expression and personal growth. The organization actively contributes to the positive role photography can have in the lives of the world’s youth by sponsoring youth-oriented photography exhibitions and scholarships for photography studies. The PSA Youth Showcase, in particular, is a photographic competition hosted by PSA chapters, clubs, councils or federations to promote and provide photographic education among young people. It is open to all students, ages 14-18, who are attending high school or its equivalent worldwide.
