Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, recently presented Lindsey Morris ’25 with three 2025 Heartland Art Region Scholastic Awards. She received a Gold Key award for her mixed media self-portrait, Cutting, which will be judged at the national level in New York City in March. Lindsey also received a Silver Key award for her art portfolio submission, My Acceptance of Femininity from Birth until Now, and an honorable mention for her illustration, Transition.

“Your work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals for its outstanding merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of your personal voice and vision,” Marta Knodle, representative for the Heartland Art Region of the Scholastics Art & Writing Awards, said in her letter to Lindsey. “We wish you continued success in your creative endeavors.”

Lindsey will be recognized alongside this year’s other regional winners at the Heartland Art Region Awards Ceremony on April 25 at Crystal Bridges in Bentonville. Additionally, all Gold and Silver Key awarded works will physically be on display in a special showcase at Crystal Bridges from March 22 to May 5. Honorable Mention awarded works will be displayed digitally in the showcase.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of the nation’s most celebrated artists and writers while they were teenagers, including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, José Parlá, Amanda Gorman, Charles White, Robert Redford, Lena Dunham, Joyce Carol Oates and Andy Warhol.
